SACRED HEART PROVINCE KOCHI

The Province of Sacred Heart of Jesus was established in 1953 along with the Devamatha Province in the north and St. Joseph’s Province in the south. With its headquarters at first at Aluva and from 1959 at Kalamassery, the Sacred Heart Province consisted of the territories under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam and the Diocese of Kothamangalam. It has made steady and fast progress ever since its establishment so much so that 4 provinces of the congregation had been carved out of it. The first of it was St. Paul’s Province, Mysore.

ST. KURIAKOSE ELIAS CHAVARA

Kuriakose (Cyriac) Chavara was born in 1805, of pious and devout parents of Syro-Malabar Church, in Kainakary, Kerala, India. In baptism, he was given the name Kuriakose (Cyriac). MISSION REGION OF BIJNOR

In 1972, the Holy See entrusted the province the mission region of Bijnor in U.P.

MISSION REGION OF RAJKOT

The mission region of Rajkot was entrusted to the congregation by the Holy See in the year 1972.

CARMEL REGION

Erected a region in the eastern section of the province on June 1, 1992. It assumed the name Carmel Region

RE-EVANGELIZING ECUADOR

Went to Ecuador in South America as missionaries and are rendering the pastoral service

Congratulations and Achievements

Congratulations to Fr. Jojo Vakiamadathil and Fr. Angelo Chakkanattu on the successful completion of their PhDs and Fr. Rinto Puthussery on completion of his Licentiate in Sacred Theology. Congratulations were also conveyed to Fr. Prasant Palackappally on his nomination as the Secretary for Environment and 

Feast of Fr. Provincial (June 29)

In honor of the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul, festal celebrations were organized for Fr. Provincial, Fr. Roy P., Fr. Paul M., and Fr. Jaine. The honorees celebrated Mass at the Provincial House, and the occasion was commemorated alongside other feastarians during the 

Departures for Studies

It was reported that several members departed to further their academic and theological pursuits. Sch. Robin, former Regent of Yuvanirmithi, left for theological studies in Pune, while Sch. Rejo, former Regent of the Provincial House, departed for theological studies in Bangalore. Additionally, Fr. Antony Moolan 

Episcopal Visit

It was noted that the Province hosted Bishop Ivan Pereira, the Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar, during his recent Episcopal visit.

New Regent Appointments

It was announced that new leadership responsibilities were assigned, with Sch. Ajay Variyampuram stepping in as the new Regent of the Provincial House. Furthermore, Sch. Tony Madathiparambil assumed the role of Regent of St. John Paul II Minor Seminary following the completion of his degree 

Welcome to the New Prefect and Members

The Province officially extended a formal welcome to Rev. Fr. Joseph Vadakkepurathan as the newly appointed Prefect, as well as to new member Rev. Fr. Paul Muriyath.

Local Superiors Animation Programme (May 26 – May 27)

It was recorded that all local Superiors convened at the Provincial House for an Animation Programme held on May 26 and May 27. The two-day event featured sessions led by distinguished resource persons, notably Justice Kurian Joseph, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, 

Perpetual Profession of Six Scholastics (May 23)

The Perpetual Profession of six Scholastics was solemnly celebrated on May 23. Rev. Fr. Poulose Kidangen presided over the Eucharistic celebration and ceremony, joined by several co-celebrants including Rev. Fr. Biju Vadakkel, the Provincial of Bijnor Province.
